About us
The Cheeky Pea was founded in Kingston in 2013 by (husband) and (wife) Tal and Shay Maginelle. When we moved here, we missed the fresh hummus and falafel we’d grown up with, so we decided to make our own and share it with the community.
What began as a place for hummus lovers has become a gathering spot for friends, families, students and neighbours. We make fresh, homemade food inspired by our Middle Eastern and Mediterranean roots, with a few modern twists.
Today, we bring The Cheeky Pea to private events and local school fairs through our mobile trailer and catering. We’re especially proud to see children discovering a love for falafel! In 2026, we were honoured to win Best Independent Food & Drink Business at the Kingston Business Awards.
We’re also proud advocates for autism and special needs awareness. For us, The Cheeky Pea has always been about good food, community and making everyone feel welcome.

Events
Three years ago, our custom food trailer joined the team, helping us bring The Cheeky Pea to celebrations and events across the area. From garden parties and weddings to corporate events, we offer food trailer service, buffet catering, mini wrap platters, falafel buffets and breakfast options.
